The New England Patriots season isn’t over yet as they play the Chargers on Sunday in the AFC Divisional round of the playoffs, but we now know that the team will need a new defensive playcaller in 2019.

The Dolphins are expected to hire Pats LB coach and playcaller Brian Flores as their head coach next season.

Under Flores this year, the Pats are sixth in PPG allowed (20.3) and produced a First Team All-Pro defensive back in Stephon Gilmore.

Assuming deal gets done, Dolphins are getting a guy in Flores who’s almost become the coaching version of Nick Caserio in Foxboro. Cross-trained by Belichick in scouting and coaching, has worn a ton of hats, immensely respected. And trusted this year to call the defense.
