The New England Patriots are in agreement with former linebacker Jamie Collins on a contract that will bring him back to Foxboro, per reports.
Following Rap’s report, Patriots and Jamie Collins have progressed from talking to … agreement. @RapSheet
As of this posting (5:30 pm on Wednesday), the money is not known.
Collins made a name for himself with the Pats after being drafted in 2013. He became a starter in 2014 and was a Pro Bowler in 2015 but was traded to the Browns at the trade deadline of 2016 as he was seeking a big contract in the next offseason.
Last year, Collins registered 104 tackles and four sacks across 16 games for Cleveland, but he graded out as just the No. 58 ranked LB in the NFL, per Pro Football Focus.
Collins is 29 years old and should help the Pats with their linebacker depth. We’ll see how he gets along with Bill Belichick this time around as the reports came out at the time of his trade that he was going off script with the Pats defense and that he didn’t have the passion for football that Belichick desires in his players.
