UVM Grad Joseph Let Go as GW Head Coach

A sad day for the University of Vermont men’s basketball program as former Catamount Maurice Joseph has been let go as the head coach of the George Washington University program.

The Colonials struggled this year, going 9-24 and Joseph was 44-57 in three years in Washington, but he was taxed with a tough job of picking up the pieces of the Mike Lonergan saga at GW, as others have noted:

Can’t help but feel like Maurice Joseph got a raw deal at GW. This was year 3, and only year 2 where he wasn’t interim. Roster had turned over a ton during that time (ripple effects of the Lonergan saga).

Joseph graduated from Vermont in 2010 and helped UVM get to the NCAA Tournament and helped the ‘Cats get to the NCAA Tournament in that year, where they lost to North Carolina in the first round. He averaged 13.9 points per game in his senior year in Burlington.
