The New England Patriots, facing a wide receiver log jam in the wake of the Antonio Brown acquisition, have traded wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to the New York Jets for a 6th-round pick in 2021.
This marks Demaryius Thomas’ fourth-team in the past year – Broncos, Texans, Patriots, Jets – and the second time he has been traded. But Jets think he can upgrade their passing attack. https://t.co/FeLuviXX2t
Thomas, who missed Week 1 with Achilles’ soreness, likely didn’t have a spot on the Pats anymore, looked good in his only preseason action of the summer. He caught seven passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 4 preseason win against the Giants.
The trade with the Jets is significant, as it marks the first trade that the two teams have made since the trade for Bill Belichick back in 2000.
The Patriots take on the Dolphins this Sunday while the Jets play the Browns on Monday night.
