UVM Captures America East Regular Season Title; Now 15-0!

It wasn’t easy and the University of Vermont men’s basketball team was tested, but the ‘Cats ultimately prevailed, beating Albany, 62-50, to capture the 2016-2017 America East regular season championship.

UVM’s win in front of a sold-out Patrick Gymnasium solidifies the No. 1 seed in the upcoming America East Conference Tournament and assures the ‘Cats will have home-court advantage throughout.

The ‘Cats had three players in double-figures, including Peyton Henson, who scored 18. The biggest key for UVM was the ability to hold onto to the basketball: They committed just four turnovers in the win while forcing the Great Danes to turn it over 14 times.

UVM will host Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon (2:00 PM) on Senior Day. The ‘Cats will look to complete the perfect 16-0 America East season. They would become the first team in league history to complete a perfect league regular season.

Stony Brook is the No. 2 seed in the league tournament.
